Espace Vanhomwegen is proud to participate in RendezVous – Brussels Art Week, uniting over 95 galleries, institutions, and artist-run initiatives across Brussels.
Every September, the four-day event connects more than 95 galleries, public institutions, foundations, and independent artist-run spaces across the city through a shared program of exhibitions, performances, and discursive events. Marking the opening of the artistic season, RendezVous invites visitors to discover emerging voices and experience the creative pulse of Brussels.
Presented in the framework of RendezVous – Brussels Art Week, ‘De Speelkamer’ (The Playroom) is a site-specific installation by Sophie Vanhomwegen that interrogates the boundaries between living space and artistic practice. Blurring the boundary between home and installation, the exhibition looks back at the five years Sophie spent living in the loft and turning it into an open space for artistic collaboration. Even as the project now expands with new participants, ‘De Speelkamer’ captures the spirit that started it all: the desire to invite friends in, experiment freely, and treat art as an essential form of play.
