Vernissage : 30 Octobre 18;00 - 22:00
Amorce is an exhibition-laboratory showcasing a work in progress, a film in the making. It operates simultaneously as a studio, a laboratory, and the backstage of a film under construction. The exhibition reveals the various elements that shape the creative process of the film Arion.
For this project, Anna Mancuso cohabited for several months with slugs of the family Arionidae. She dedicated a space within her live-work studio to them, fitted out with several terrariums. They shared her daily life, and vice versa. Within these spaces, Anna arranged soil, plants, lettuce, and a strip of transparent Super 8 film. Day after day, the slugs deposited their mucus onto this film, intertwined with natural elements. They claimed it as a pathway between two lettuce leaves or a shelter to sleep under, leaving their traces behind. Through their daily actions, an experimental film took shape, sculpted by their movements and their interactions with their environment.,A form of non-human writing emerges. The slugs become the co-authors of an organic and unpredictable script. They also act as active forces of creation. Their traces, their bodily matter, and their unique temporality directly contribute to the making of the image.
In the Amorce exhibition, visitors are invited to observe and analyze the surrounding space. They are placed in a research-oriented position. They are encouraged to closely examine the details of the elements around them and take the time to pay attention using provided tools like magnifying glasses and flashlights.
